Collaborating with Employees – Improving Culture and Processes

What are the three main ingredients needed to support a team based, process improvement effort?  In this training workshop, we will discuss the need to focus on improving the way work is done (process), the importance of developing a culture that supports improvement (leadership), and what the future might look like if all of this is done well (direction).  Join IndustryWeek Contributing Editor and author of The Façade of Excellence; Defining a New Normal of Leadership John Dyer as he discusses a simulation and case study that demonstrates the impact of management vs. leadership.  This interactive session is for everyone who wants to learn more about how culture, leadership, and trust impact lean and Six Sigma sustainability and expansion.

Key Takeaways:

  • Experience Dr. W. Edwards Deming’s famous “Red Bead Experiment” which demonstrates the importance of “Process over People.”
  • Explore the four Leadership styles required to drive a successful improvement initiative.
  • Participate in Dyer’s “Leadership Experiment” activity which clearly shows the power of building a team’s “Enthusiastic Productivity” and the barriers to changing an organization’s culture.
  • Review and discuss a case study that will help drive home the need to change the culture to a team based, empowered organization built on trust.

Debate the question “Why do team-based improvement?” and the roles Mission, Vision, Strategy, and Values play in developing a culture that supports Lean and Six Sigma
