The Basics of Lean Warehousing
Warehousing is often overlooked as a destination for process improvement. Many companies view their storage space as a necessary cost and don’t apply resources to improve the way products move in and out of their facilities. They struggle with speed, accuracy, and capacity as a result. The warehouse team may not have been included in Lean training and don’t know the basics or how to improve their departments. We will highlight the challenges they face and offer some suggestions and real-world examples of how companies who excel in the movement of goods achieve world class cycle times.
About Kevin Ledversis
Kevin Ledversis serves as VP of Sales at Newcastle Systems and helps customers identify where and how process improvements can be made in warehouse operations using bar code technology. Mr. Ledversis has over 30 years of experience within the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) industry. Prior to joining Newcastle Systems, he worked in sales for Weber Labeling Solutions, Intermec and Printronix where he developed solutions for complex labeling applications in a variety of verticals such as distribution, manufacturing, healthcare and retail. Mr. Ledversis earned his MBA degree from University of Hartford and a bachelor’s degree from Bryant University.
He received his Lean Bronze training from the Greater Boston Manufacturing Partnership and his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from Leancor . He has been a regional board member of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence and The Warehouse Education Research Council.
